“Instead of being like a circus where the trainer uses his stick to make animals do stunts to serve the interest of the audience, the system of education should be like an Orchestra, where the conductor waves his stick to orchestrate the music already within the musicians’ heart in the most beautiful manner"- Abhijit Naskar. At first, I was unhappy with the rapid and drastic changes that are going on in our education system. But after reading this beautiful quote by Abhijit Naskar, my whole state of mind has been changed. Every sector needs changes according to the society for the betterment. So, does the education system. In the past few years, education systems have gone through some drastic yet essential changes, which turned out to be right. Go through some of those crucial changes in the education sector.
Addition of Technology
The addition of computers in the learning and education system is evidently the most significant transformation. All the teachers and students today have accepted the way education has changed. The culture has evolved so much considering the diverse forms of learning and teaching. However, students are getting lazier as the technology is getting stronger.
Change in courses and curriculum
Earlier most academic institutions use to offer core educational, vocational and business courses to students. Students don't need more than 18 units to pass and no guidelines for one's choice of career. Now academic institutions offer advanced placement and more selection of courses. Students have access to career guidance for all the technical and non-technical programs. With diverse forms of changes, educational progress is changing as well.
Early and extra involving
Earlier kindergartens were in most instances private school's settings, and also there were no summer programs or even educational review programs for school starters. Now it has entirely changed as kindergartens are now housed in public schools, and also various review and summer programs have been introduced to shape and identify a child's abilities, skills and capabilities.
Changes in teaching activities
Teaching several classes of the same level are combined with one teacher handling the lessons and another as an assistant teacher is the standard part of today's learning. Reading and holiday tuitions nowadays have turned out to be the new strategies for various schools in enhancing the student and general school performance as inter-school competitions are increased to secure the overall ranking. In the past, students never had a variety of extracurricular activities to choose. Now, students have a variety of activities to get involved in like athletics, dancing, and acting. Entertainment sessions are now allowed in educational institutions and enabled students to ease their minds from the repetitive nature of education.
