To start your self-study journey of English, you need to find a way which is most comfortable for you, and something that you can enjoy simultaneously. Here are some ideas that will build your motivation to study English, until you can use other approaches to study English on your own.
Listen to English music with repeating the lyrics simultaneously
To learn English in a fun way you can listen to English songs. All of us love to listen to music in the car, at home or the mall. Listening to English music with practising the lyrics at the same can do wonders to improve your English. Try to avoid rock and rap music as their lyrics are usually blurred and too fast to be understood. They cannot help you to improve your diction and pronunciation.

Watch English movies, videos and TV shows of your interest
You can watch YouTube videos for your English comprehension and communication. Also, you can Watch English movies and TV shows of your choice to get to know your understanding of the language. It will also help you to learn common slang terms, idioms and phrases and will add more words to your vocabulary. You can use subtitles initially, for the better understanding of the dialogues delivered by the actors.
Read e-books, newspapers, articles and online magazines
Start reading English magazines, e-books, and articles from English newspaper on a daily basis. Reading is essential, the more you read, the more you will get to learn about English sentence fragmentation. You can read anything of your choice like- material on cooking, relationships, fashion, technology, beauty, automobiles, current affairs, etc.
Start writing about anything you like
You can start by writing about something of your own, just like a personal journal. Writing combines all you have learned together- how much you know about English grammar, vocabulary and overall understanding. When you are finished with your writing, check your work for any errors. You can use grammar checker programs for this task.
Chat and speak in English with everybody and wherever you go
Speak in English as much as possible. To get prepared, before leaving your home, practice on the most common topics you might be talking on with people. This will help you to build your confidence and can encourage you to answer whatever you will hear. Try and speak English wherever you go, even if the person you’re talking to is not that much fluent in the language as you are.
